Everybody is talking about the importance of having an email list. Today, almost 2 weeks after the crash of Instagram and Facebook I decided to make an episode about why you should start thinking about your email list. In this episode I am sharing with you my top three reasons to create and grow your email list and why you should not count only on social platforms.
It’s good to connect with other people (readers, writers, potential clients and/or customers) and you can and you should the different social platforms to do it. But the engagement level when you send someone an email is different. Go listen to the episode to find out what I mean.

When you start to build our business, no matter whether you are just selling books or offering some other products and/or services, you have to think about how will you connect with your potential readers, clients, and customers. Surely you can use social media and you must do it. Social platforms can give such wonderful ways to promote yourself and your books / courses / products etc. But they are not reliable. Sometimes they have problems with their servers, and sometimes they just stop working.
That’s why if you are serious about your business you have to start thinking about creating and growing your email list. This is the only reliable way to connect with your readers and clients.
You are not dependent on seervers, algorithms etc.
If you use social platforms you have restrictions. You are restricted by the way the platform works. You are restrict by the platform’s algorith. You are restricted bby the platform’s servers and so on and so on.
But if you have an email list the only thing you need to do is write one email. And then send it to all the people that are on your email list. It’s that simple. Yes, you may have some problems with the email service provider but it’s nothing compared to the algorithms and everything else that you have to be aware of about social platforms.
You can connect with your followers whenever you want
Another great advantage of email lists is that you can connect with your readers, clients, and customers whenever you want.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s 2 oçlock in the morning. You can send them an email and they will see it when they get up.
This is very convenient epecially of you have customers/clients that live in different parts of the earth and in different time zones.
Your email list subscribers are way more engaged with your content
That’s true. Your email list subscribers are more engaged with your content. And the reason for this is very simple. They gave you their email address because they want to learn more about you and what can you offer them.
Unlike social media where most of the time we are just scrolling searching for something interesting, your email list subscribers already know you will send them interesting things and offers. That’s why they gave you their email address on the first place.
Even though the social media presence is a must for authorpreneurs you have to use social media to build your email list. This is the only way to be sure that when you launch your next book or e-course you can reach to your target audience and tell them, “Hey, guys.
That’s why you have to start thinking about your email list right now, even if you’re just starting out as a writer and have nothing published yet.
